Had a conversation on steam talking bout games that are coming out , conversation took a u turn and i reliased i end up buying more games dirt cheap than actually playing them and finishing.

    House of the dead overkill
    Tomb raider collection
    Fragile dreams
    Just cause 2
    Oblivion
    Viking battle for asgard
    The sly cooper collection
    Batman brave and the bold
    Yakuza 1
    Okami
    Epic mickey
    Madworld

All games i started , got halfway through or nearly finished but havent
Then theres games i have not opened nor touched yet

    Disaster day of crisis
House of the dead 2 and 3
    Yakuza 2

Such a bad sickness that i buy games dirt cheap but even i hardly play games anymore :pac:

Any people out there like me , or am i the only crazy bastard out their :p

HAHAHAHAHA! we laugh at your tiny collection of unfinished games! :D:p

probably most of the older players on here who are cash rich and time poor

im right there with you. got bioshock 2 and velvet assassain still in the plastic on xbox, also got RE5 and splinter cell not played just opened.
then theres the countless games that have just been barely touched

digital downloads at times are just too cheap and really i can never resist some games, eg san andreas 2.50 and arcanum $3

the worst is i realise i do it but will still continue to do so

I've 538 not played in my backloggery :/ And I'm hitting the 3DS shop as we speak to get more.

    I have a problem.

    I'm not too bad.

    Currently have:

    Metal Gear Solid Collection HD
    Metal Gear Solid 4
    Heavy Rain
    Final Fantasy XIII
    Splinter Cell Trilogy
Prince of Persia Trilogy (though I have played on the PS2, just not the re-release)
The Witcher (about 2 or 3 chapters in but has been on hiatus for about 4 months - actually checked Steam - it's actually last July!!!)
    Tomb Raider Underworld
    Silent Hill (PSOne)
    Shank 2
    I Am Alive
    ICO HD
    Jak and Daxter
    Back to the Future 1-5

Have all those and what am I doing? Replaying Wind Waker on the GameCube. Of course.

Other than that, it's not too bad. I do have a few games I plan to replay, but nothing I haven't finished already.

Having spent years openly mocking those who've fallen victim to such things, I've now got a creeping stack of unfinished titles building in the top-right of my game pile. This made worse by the fact I've got some stuff in my trade/sell lot, so there's a load of unplayed phaff there, staring at me disapprovingly every time I bring home a new title that I'm undoubtedly gonna play first.

I've a ridiculous backlog at this stage :(

I even ended up giving a load of the ones I was pretty sure i'd never play (most in plastic) to a charity drive. And of course, the next day I wanted to play one I gave away and bought it.

It got to the stage where my girlfriend has, rightly, banned me from buying games for 6 months

i've quite a few games in my steam list and elsewhere that I bought but haven't played and have no real intention of playing any time soon. I buy them so I can play them when the mood strikes, whenever that is.

Why assume you have to finish a game. When you feel you aren't enjoying anymore or have played enough why feel like you have to finish.

I have alot of unfinished games mostly rpgs because I usually have my fun and move onto something new

This is something I've noticed myself doing an awful lot in recent years.

Back in my Megadrive/Snes and even PS1 days a game cartridge/disc would not leave the console until the games end credits were scrolling up the screen.

Nowadays with a lot of games, I reach a certain point in the game that I find just that little bit too hard and/or annoying and I lose interest almost immediately.

Is it that games are just less fun these days because I'm older?

Maybe in some cases, though there are still a handful of titles that I've enjoyed enough that I wanted to see through to the end. The Uncharted series for example, short and easy enough as they are, were great fun to play and I go back to them every now and then, mainly for the story and the fact that it's gorgeous to look at and the acting is superb.

I always return to the original Resident Evils, the PS1 Final Fantasys etc. just because they're still brilliant imo.
Still obsessed with Skyrim, serious value for money that yoke and fully intend to complete that however long it takes.

Skyrim is the only game I've finished in the last roughly 12 months. Started loads but I usually get about half way through before something else comes out. Even fairly short games like Arkham City, Assassins Creed Revelations and Vanquish are left half done. I put loads of time into New Vegas, must go back and finish that one.

Couldn't put Skyrim down though, amazing game.

I've finished off the top of my head in the last while:

    Mass Effect 3
    Uncharted 3
    Enslaved
Warhammer 40k Dawn of War 2, the first RTS type game
    Fallout: NV

I can't think of any others.

I've probably bought 20+ games in the same time period.

How far do I go back before I consider it no longer in my backlog of games, but games that I never plan on playing. I have a copy of loki for the PC (a dungeon crawler from 2007) that I played for 1 hour and then never played again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,794 ✭✭✭✭Potential-Monke

I'm luck in so far as i only have consoles, so usually console players don't have as big a back catalogue as pc players. I have bought about 6 games (3 hd collections) in the last few months which i have every intention of playing in the coming months as i knew i was going to be broke so needed something to pass the time.

However, i do intend on building a rig at some stage this year, and i'm sure i'll get sucked in by the steam sales, et al.

Sure I've "gone back" to STALKER twice, still not done.

List is probably 40 titles+. Humble bundles, steam sales, it all racks up.

Just said i'd add that to your post! Put everything else aside and play these.

Next will probably be Trine 2 since I got it with my 3 month PS Plus sub so need to play it before the subscription runs out. Then maybe the first Alice to get it out of the way for when I want to play Madness Returns.
As for the GTAs, have only played GTA 1 and 2 a bit. Only played 2 for the tank Kill Frenzies. :)
Problem is, there are so many games there that are meant to be good. Plus I'm a big fan of The Warriors and the Thing movies.

The list didn't include Little Big Planet, Dead Nation(Thanks PSN rewards), Outland or Beyond Good and Evil.

    It's a hard life

Only started playing skyrim last month. I've had it since release. Still haven't opened Saints Row 3. A rake load of others that have only seen a few hours gameplay. As for the Steam sales? Forget about it. At least Half my list is unplayed. Tons of old point and clicks. And now I see gog have released theme hospital. Obviously I'll have to buy that and never get around to playing it.

I think the hardest thing about having a backlog is trying to decide which game to play next.
