Hi everyone, ohhh I'm so happy to be here! I just joined this site this evening to post on the snooker and pool board (another of my hobbies)and I found this by accident!

I just love making things. I make cards and absolutely love knitting, my friends think I'm a bit of an oul wan but I find it so theraputic. I also do a bit of web design and graphic design.

I'm just an artist/myth junkie trying to get by. I work primarily with stained glass, but I've dabbled into sketching and the like:

    Hi.

I draw while holding a pencil with my mouth when I'm completely nackered. I've also hardly ever done a major work. I wish I was NOT a frustrated artist *sigh*

Hi there just wondering if anyone would be interested in volunteeering to face paint at a fundraiser in greystones on sat 26th of May?? email me ay niamhwade@yahoo.co.uk if you are!!we could really do with the help!

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,342 ✭✭✭red_bairn

I'd say there are loads of people willing to do the face painting. You also advertise it about the town. Try the library, Jokers, Eugenes, and perhaps Supervalu.

I would do it but will be heading back late from Gorey that day and then work later on.

I could see if one lad i know is interested and get him to respond to your email here.

    My interests include:

Jewellery- Been experimenting for about 6 months. Up to now I have mainly be working with seed beads and learning stitch techniques. Recently started working with wire but need to learn more about it.

Cross stitch-I had done a small amount in primary school but only got into it again in the last few months.

Photography - I don't get to do this as much as I would like mainly due to the crap weather. But when it's dry I'll quite happily get on a train and stop somewhere just because it looks visually interesting.

Over the years I've also done some scrapbooking, card making and sewing (curtains, small hammocks for toys or small items)

    Hello everyone
I love messing with anything to do with arts and crafts but I love crafts more. Last yr I did a stained glass course and loved it. I bought some of my own tools too. I have just quit a jewellery making course because it's not what I thought it was gonna be. It was all metals and heavy duty stuff and i'm more beads and things. I've just bought a torch and supplies for making my own glass beads. I couldnt find a course in cork so I took a big step and bought a book :D here's hoping I dont set the house on fire lol  I did scrapbooking for a while and if I had more space I'd do more but I make such a mess when I do things! here is one of my very first glass pieces:

I have beeen making silver jewellery for six years and that led into making jewellery with gemstones and pearls. After the last few classes being successful I have decided to teach more and am doing some classes before Christmas.

What I have found is even more valuable to people is somewhere for them to bounce ideas and get good support from other like minded people, so that
is where Irish Craft Association comes in.

It is set up for everyone from students to 'been around for a while' crafts people and artists. It is also interested in having craft/art suppliers and services as members. It provides feedback meetings where everyone gets a chance to give their view on what is needed next for crafts people and can get support, advice and help in how to move forward in their own business.
It really works on the individual and their needs. Insurance is also available through them.
There will be competitions throughout the year, the one coming up is called 'tea cosy'.
The word craft conjures up an old fashioned idea of traditional wares, and this is to show how modern and exceptional craft can be!
JUst to let you know, there is modern thinking and open minds out there!

Not sure if right area but as for myself, would mainly be into movie props (and the painting and displaying of them, the painting part needs alot more work) and trying my hand at scuplting slowly but surely. Other than that graphic design (ie photoshop and such) would be other area

    I get on different kicks,

    Card making, floristry, knitting etc.

My current one is dressmaking, I'm working from patterns at the moment but I'd hope to branch out a bit when I'm more comfortable with the processes. I did a beginners course in September and I've been blasting away with it since, it's probably the most satisfying thing I've done in a while.

I'm not gifted with a talent of drawing but I enjoy making cards, scrapbooking, and took a dressmaking course last year, which wasnt very good but nonetheless i like to try!

I'm a part time artist/designer! I went to NCAD and did the 4 yr education course there, specialising in ceramics. I'm now a part-time art teacher so I do a bit of everything there, but I've just set up my own business in the last while making bespoke bridal jewellery. So far it's stocked in 2 shops and there seems to be a good bit of interest in the pieces, I also have a www store. The long term goal is for that to take off enough for me to be able to stop teaching and just concentrate on the business-dreams, dreams:)

Hey All- I'm actually a dog groomer, but I did an art craft and design course for two years- I've still managed to keep up with some arts, mainly I've been designing characters for a new RPG Video game coming out in America , and I make and sell a lot of Acrylic paintings now- I thing my painting teacher would get a shock if she heard that, I hated painting in her class XD But I love it now, strangely enough. I also do a bit of cross stitching, and still do the odd bit of drawing as well ^^

I'm a graphic designer, four years of art/print college. Also have done alot of dressmaking over the years, went to the Grafton Academy and studied dress design for three years. Making a doll house at the moment, taking ages, would you believe I have been working on it for four years now, but you wouldn't know it!, still not finished. I like cross stitch, card making, acrylics, screenprinting, fabric printing, making curtains for my real house. I love paper but just mainly have lots of boxes of it around my house doing nothing but it's so lovely I just take it out and look at it now and again! Also, I really can't stop buying art and craft stuff!, someday it will get used I tell myself! Nice to see all you fellow crafters on here, makes my day! :)

    Hello!

I'm brand new here. I just moved back to Dublin after spending 9 years living in the States. I do cross stitching and love it. Bit of a shock to come back to Ireland and find it virtually non existent here though!

Oooo ye are all so talented. Keep up the good work. I like knitting but I prefer crochet. I taught myself years ago, and now I go to the local school and teach the children crochet. We have been doing granny blankets, but in September they want to move on to teddies and stuff. Yikes.
