We're staging the 2nd Danny O'Brien Memorial Photowalk to coincide with the Trim Balloon Fiesta over the Easter Weekend.
Most of you will remember Danny aka valentia as a regular and valued contributor here on Boards.
So if you're around Trim over the Easter weekend, be sure to look in. We have a few extra events planned including workshops, an exhibition and a print auction featuring prints from some very well known photographers.

Keep an eye on Photowalk.ie or on the facebook page for updates.

As part of the Danny O'Brien photowalk, there will be an auction of prints by some top class photographers. The actual auction takes place on Saturday evening at 6.30pm in Brogans Hotel, Trim.

However, we have set up an auction website where you can view what's on offer and place a bid. All money raised goes to a local Trim charity set up by Danny on the day he passed away so dig deep folks and pick up a unique photograph into the bargain. A lot of the photos are framed and ready for hanging.

    Hi guys.

If you wander over to the Military Vehicles Display, you'll be able to say 'hi' to me as I'll be at Trim as a WW2 re-enactor. Just ask for Andy and someone will point me out. Looking forward to saying 'hi'. :D

Great job organising the photowalk & events.
I could only stay a short while yesterday but I met loads of people and thoroughly enjoyed both talks by Peter Fitzsimons and Darren Carr.
I couldn't stay for the auction but great to hear that it raised so much for a good cause.

Every print was sold with only two going to online bidders - all the others were sold at the live auction. Big thanks to all who kindly donated prints, a lot of which were framed and ready to hang. Big thanks too, to our auctioneer Ray Butler TD who kept the banter and the craic going and even more importantly did a great job selling the photos.

In the end, we raised €2,300 which is all going to the RAY club (nothing to do with Ray Butler either :) ). The RAY club was founded by Danny on the day he passed away two years ago and provides an outlet and meeting place for teens in Trim. Danny's wife Phil, is actively involved in the club. We're also donating a pile of brown envelopes with money in them that we collected at the workshop/presentations. No idea how much is in them because we're handing them over unopened.

MissusP&B has a couple of shots of the auction on progress so I'll get her to post them.

I'm finally slowly recovering from the weekend...;)

Kudos to everyone involved organising everything (you know who you are and I'm afraid I could miss someone who was maybe more in the background that I didn't even realise) - from venue over talks and workshops, Exhibition in Market Street and the Auction. Great craic, very enjoyable to see quite a lot of people and a real success!

Oh, I heard there was a photowalk too!?!
Think there are a few new pictures on my memory card and I did walk around a bit but don't think any of those pictures would be suitable for the competion ;)

    Thanks again!!

And for all those Boardsies who didn't collect your Boards Photobook, they've been put to good use as you can see in the bottom RH corner of the second photo :)

Good to be involved in such a good cause, even from the other side of the Ball.
