Six month smiles (a trade marked system) does not equal six month braces. In the clinic the OP refers to its not six month smiles, just braces done for six months (wheather they use self ligating brackets or striaght wires is not known). But you are correct the objectives are limited and usually only the front teeth. Most of the places offering 6 months braces use standard braces just with limited objectives.

Theres a few on there likening them to mink which seems slightly skewed to me. Would there be similar outrage if the photo was of a heron or cormorant?

Most people i know don't have a bad attitude towards otters at all, although my parents are convinced we lost a lamb or two to one last year. I was pretty skeptical as I didn't think otters would go for that kind of prey but have otters actually been known to take lambs?

I have never heard of them taking a lamb - their preferred habitats would rarely bring them in contact with lambs anyway. There have been cases where they have taken farmyard poultry but that would be a very rare event, usually involving a young male thats been kicked out of his territory and forced to wander to find his own. Comparing them to non-native invader like mink is indeed plain stupid. Indeed Otters have been known to supress mink numbers in areas where there is a healthy population.

My few acres in North Mayo goes down to the seashore and is part of the territory of a very large male otter. He has never caused us any problems on the farm and I enjoy seeing him enjoying his fish meal on the shore if I'm up early in the morning.

I told him to take off his glasses and look at the white wall beside him and see if he could see them. He then said he could see tons of them. So it really is possible to ignore them.
I notice them less now. I started taking beetroot juice which someone somewhere said was good for making them less transparent. No idea if it did anything (probably not) but as soon as I accepted them I forgot about them and rarely notice them anymore.
For another example of how it is possible to ignore such things, your nose is always in your field of vision but your brain has gotten so used to it that it ignores it.

The above is correct, but you need to take game theory into account; certain sets of numbers will be more likely to have been picked by others (for example 1,2,3,4,5,6 or the numbers from the TV show Lost), so your chances of having to share the prize are higher with them. I generally tend to play number sets with at least one number > 31 (avoiding those who use dates in their sets). Quick Picks are guaranteed unique for a draw (at least when picked as a quick pick ).

I don't play that often, but when I do, my strategy is to try to minimise the chances of having to share. When I win, I want to win big

You'll want to be really careful with these as more and more fakes and frankenwatchs are coming out. The movement is common enough so relatively easy to cobble one together.
This page is a mine of info.

Lovely watch, though they are a small watch by todays standards, so if you've a he man wrist and are used to 44mm watches a Mark X or any of the WWW watches will look and wear small(IIRC the Longines "Greenlander" is the largest of them).

IWC will recondition/service them, but collectors prefer the "rougher" untouched ones with original parts as a general rule. The movement stuff they certainly have and it's a solid movement so no worries there.

I am due to get the permanent crowns fitted on Tuesday next, and since yesterday my gum had become inflamed behind one of the temp crowns. If the swelling doesn't go down by Tuesday, would this mean the dentist won't be able to fit the permanent crowns? I know I have a few days, but I'm not sure bonjella is really doing the job!

I have been on infliximab for UC for over 2 years. It has worked brilliantly and I have been practically symptom free since starting it. I am thinking about moving to the UK for work in the next year and I am wondering how realistic this is when on infliximab infusions?

Does anyone have any experience of trying to get infliximab for colitis on the NHS? If I can't get it from them could I work in UK but still fly home for my infusions every 8 weeks (I am a public patient)? I have tried searching for info about this but there doesn't seem to be much out there. I was wondering if anyone has any experience moving abroad while on infliximab and how they sorted everything out.
Thanks in advance.

Yeah, the taipan and several different sea snakes are thought to have the most potent venom but that doesn´t necessarily mean its the fastest to act- coral snakes, I've heard, have a painless bite that doesn´t cause symptoms until hours later, yet the venom is more potent than say, that of a rattlesnake (which acts much faster...)
Think Philippine cobras are scary? Try stepping into a large terrarium filled with at least ten angry green rattlesnakes, all in attack posture and rattling at the same time D:
And I've never been in the same space as king cobras (not without a glass between us) but it must be terrifying as they can almost rear to face-level and are known to growl...

Currently the School of Medicine provides free accommodation to all its undergraduate student s who are on clinical attachments (both hospital and General Practice) outside Cork City (other than in Mallow). The costs incurred by the School are significant and have increased annually.

Regrettably, we wish to alert you to the fact that this service will be withdrawn on a phased basis, beginning in Term 2 of the academic Year 2013/14. For that Term, students in Yr 3 of the Direct Entry (DE) to Medicine Programme and Yr 2 of the Graduate Entry to Medicine (GEM) Programme will need to make their own arrangements and, if necessary, pay for accommodation during clinical attachments outside Cork City.

From 2014/15, this will also apply to Yr 4 of DE /Yr 3 GEM;

From 2015/16 it will apply to all undergraduate students of Medicine.

The School recognises the financial burden this will place on some students and has taken this decision only after careful consideration. The State grant for UCC State has decreased by almost 50% since 2007; we are determined that the quality of the programmes you are taking be maintained. This is an unfortunate but necessary step to achieve that.

Information on accommodation available in Tralee, Clonmel and other sites will be provided when the attachment schedule for Term 2 (Yr 3 DE; Yr 2 GEM) is circulated in Oct 2013.

[Engineering] Setting Out with an EDM

Posted by Max Moment:

I would be careful with this one. If you 'assume' fixed points to reference off that are shown on your drawing you could be way off the agreed set out that was agreed for planning e.g. existing buildings. This may be the case as the position of the existing buildings may not be accurate on the drawing compared to what is there.

If the set out is critical, I would insist on control points from the client / design team. Or at least fixed dimensions from existing structures from which you could set up a local grid. My advice would be not to take responsibility for this. This way you can not be held liable at a later stage as these dims can be easily verified at any stage. I have worked with survey drawings issued to me which are incorrect with items being metres from where they actually are in reality. This could be critical when considering distances to Roadways / existing buildings etc.

Also, have a look at the layers on the drawing. The control points from the original topo survey may have been frozen or turned off by the draughtsman for clarity. Failing this you could contact the original survey company and ask them for the co-ordinates of control points which may be close or outside the site (if they still exist). They may charge for this!

If the set is not critical, the method that holdfast states will work fine. Use the corners of know points (e.g. corners of buildings) to set up your own local grid which co-ordinates can be generated from.

Similar holds true for level benchmarks - my advice, never assume

I've just completed a level 6 in Culinary Arts, have applied to do a level 7 food science, would I be eligible to do my level 8 in Environmental Health once I complete the level 7 in food science? I'm really interested in the area of environmental health. Unfortunately I didn't meet the maths requirement to do to the Environmental Health course in DIT but have the CAO Points.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Do you mean an anaesthetic nurse? There are no nurse anaesthetists to the best of my knowledge in Ireland. Unlike in the US, Canada and the UK where they have non-physician anaesthetists of various sorts.
I am not a nurse but I understand the career path would be to become an operating room nurse and then choose anaesthesia.
Hope this helps

The dentist said that it can be fixed, - smoothened over etc. when the root canal is completed next week. But you are right re: sealability and bite, and the repair won't last forever - but will buy me a good deal of time before I replace it.

In fairness it took about 8 shots to get that pic!;-)
Thanks again,

I had lasek this time last year but I had a strong prescription (-6) and the only side effects I’ve experienced is that when I’m tired at work (computer) my eyes feel very tired! More so than when I used to wear glasses. My night vision is a fraction less clearer too but so tiny a change that it only annoys me when I think about it at night.

The benefits far and away out number these small annoyances.

It’s one of the best things I’ve done to be honest. I’ve been on holidays a number of times since and it’s such a feeling not to bother with glasses/contacts at the beach et.

Best advice is to talk to as many people/experts on the topic and decide for yourself if it's something for you.
